On-going change processes require adjustments of
educational content and methods. The steadily increasing
demands of enterprises are a challenge for the lower qualifi
ed in particular. For young people with special development
needs without (or with a poor) formal schooling
degree, special means are needed to prepare them for the
active labour market and to provide them with career
opportunities.

The Symposion wants to answer the following questions:
Do the approaches to vocational (pre-)qualifi cation currently
under debate really offer new opportunities for
training and further education programmes?
Which options are best suited to secure the target group’s
sustained interest in vocational training and thus integrate
them into the active labour market?
