| Beschreibung: | The Conference Regional responses to demographic challenges in January 2007 was the second in a series of three launching the Commissions Regions for economic change initiative.
The particular background to the conference is that the Commission has worked in recent years to facilitate a European-wide debate on demographic change on the one hand and to reinforce the contribution of Cohesion policy to achieving the growth and jobs agenda on the other. Also, during the first European Demographic Forum in November 2006 the regional dimensions of demographic change were raised.
